How to fix the error We can't sign in to your account in Windows 10. 

Now a days many peoples who experienced an error We can’t sign into your account error issue in Windows 10 machines.

Sometimes after the Windows 10 upgrade and installation you may receive a pop up showing "We can't sign in to your account" in Windows 10. 

In the above condition windows 10 prevents you to Signing into your user profile and creates a temporary user. Any changes you makes in this session will be discarded as soon as you sign out.

The error message shows that the issue can often be fixed by signing out of your account and then signing back in. Some times it doesn't solve the problem. So we need to apply an advanced fix.

This issue is mainly occurring after the installation of some windows update. Unfortunately the exact reason for the issue is not clear.

Don't panic!!. We can fix this issue by modifying some keys in registry.

Solution

Step 1 :  Close the Pop Up.

Step 2 : Press Windows key + R in keyboard to open Run Prompt.

Step 3 : Type regedit in Run and press Enter.

     It will opens the Registry Editor.

Step 4 : Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Step 5 : Expand SOFTWARE

Step 6 : Expand Microsoft

Step 7 : Expand Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Step 8 : Expand ProfileList

There you can see a file with .bak extension and file with same file name without the .bak extension.

We can see there in the ProfileImagePath the exact user path is in duplicate (.bak) file and the temporary user is created in the original file. It means we are currently logged in the temporary user.

Step 9 : Delete the file without the .bak extension.

Step 10 : Rename the duplicate file. (clear the .bak extension).

Step 11 : Restart the machine.

After restart you can sign in to your permanent user profile.

 

Fixed the error.
